UFM Industries Ltd. Company History and Annual Growth Details

The company was originally incorporated as a Private Limited Company on 04.06.1986 as U.F. Mills Private Limited in Shillong, Assam to carry out the business of wheat flour and to purchase and takeover the flour mill Known as Union Flour Mills. Union Flour Mills was a partnership concern which started commercial production in the year 1965 with an installed capacity of 30000 Tpa. Subsequently under expansion programme another unit was set up with an installed capacity of 42000 Tpa within the same complex located at Meherpur, Silchar in the state of Assam. The Company was converted into public limited Company on 18.03.1988. The Company has set up another 42000 Tpa Roller Flour Mill with Buhler technology of Switzerland at Gauripur in the District of Dhubri (Assam) with financial assistance of IDBI, ICICI and IFCT which started its commercial production in the month of March 1990. The Company is having a product of Maida, Suji, Atta & Bran with installed capacity of 1,14,000 M.T.

Main objects of the Company

The main objects of the company as set out in the Memorandum & Articles of Association of the company inter-alia are as follows:

1. To carry on the business of manufacture and sale of wheat flour and allied products, millers and grinders of wheat, rice, gram, corn, seeds and spices of all kinds and descriptions.

2. To own flour mills, rice mills, and factories for manufacture of wheat flour, rice, grain, corn, seeds and spices of all kinds and descriptions.

3. To act as owners of flour mills, rice mills, oil mills, and other mills and factories for the manufacture of the aforesaid products.

4. To carry on the business of purchase and sale of wheat, rice, grain, corn, jowar, bajra, barley, oat and any other kind of grain and vegetable oil seeds, cereals, bran corn and spice of all kinds and descriptions.

5. To purchase and take over the flour mill known as M/s Union Flour Mills and such land, buildings, plant and machinery, other fixed assets, stores, stocks, other assets and liabilities, pending contracts, licences, quotas and other rights as may be agreed upon between the present owners and the Directors of the company.

To take over the existing business of flour mills, and other mills for manufacture of rice, corn, seeds, and spices of all kinds and descriptions.

7. To carry on the business of lessees of flour mills, rice mills, oil and other mills for manufacture of wheat flour, rice, corn, vegetable oil seeds, spices, bajra, jower, barly and oat.

8. To carry on the business of rice mill and solvent extraction plant.

9. To carry on the business as bakers and manufacture of and dealers in and act as agents for bread, biscuits, cakes and farinaceous compounds and substances products and materials.

10. To carry on the business of extracting edible and non edible oils either by crushing or by chemical or any other process rom copra, cotton seed, linseed, castor seeds, mustard seed, groundnut seed or any other seed or nut or other oil bearing substance and to manufacture, export, import and deal in and act as agents for boiled oils and all kinds of oil preparation and oil products and bye-products including soap, candles, oil cakes, etc. and act as tallow merchants and oil merchants.

11. To carry on the business of seed and grain-growers, seeds crushers, refiners of oil and oil products,manufacturers of and dealers in and act as agent for hydrogenated oil, vegetable ghee; butter substitutes, glycerine and all kinds of oil preparations and oil products.
