KIOCL Ltd. Company History and Annual Growth Details

KIOCL Limited (Formerly known as Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited), a Flagship Company under the Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India was formed on 2 April 1976 for Mining
and Beneficiation of low grade iron ore at Kudremukh, Karnataka, India.

KIOCL has been a pioneer with over four decades of experience in operating Iron Ore
Mining, Beneficiation and Iron Oxide Pelletisation in the Country. KIOCL is having facilities
to operate 3.5 MTPA Iron-oxide Pellet Plant, Blast Furnace Unit to manufacture
2.16 lakh tonnes per annum Pig iron at Mangaluru, Karnataka.

2000 - Kudremukh Iron Ore Company (KIOCL) has bagged Capexil award for
outstanding export of iron ore for 1999-2000. The Company has bagged
this award for the ninth time in a row.

- Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd., the country's largest 100 per cent
export-oriented unit, has suffered a dent in its fortunes, with net profit during the
first seven months of the current fiscal dropping by over 66 per cent.

- Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd has been awarded the prestigious ISO 14001
Certification for its environmental management system.

2001 - Kudremukh Iron Ore Company (KIOCL), has entered into an memorandum of
understanding (MoU) with government of Andhra Pradesh for exploration and
development of low grade iron ore.

- The Company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Union steel
ministry for a turnover of Rs 780 crore for the year 2001-2002.

- The Company has been awarded the licence to exploit the low-grade iron deposits in
Prakasam district and an iron pellet unit will be set up near Ongole.

2004

-SAIL ties up with Kudremukh Iron Ore

2005

-Kudremukh Iron Ore Co Ltd has bagged the 'Top Export Award' for being the leading exporter of products covered by bulk minerals and ores

2009

-Company name has been changed from Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd to KIOCL Ltd.

2019
-KIOCL Awarded 3rd Prize for implementation of Official Language

2020
- Approval of Mineral Exploration Project executed by KIOCL Limited
